![]() Steven W. NyhusSenior Attorney Steve has been an attorney with Flaherty & Hood, P.A. since 2000. His practice focuses on municipal wastewater treatment, municipal electric utility, and real estate matters. He has represented cities in administrative cases before the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency, and has provided appellate representation before the Minnesota Court of Appeals and Minnesota Supreme Court. He has assisted clients with the development of pollutant trading programs, engineering studies of phosphorus treatment methods, environmental review for major development projects, and responding to state renewable energy mandates. Steve has also provided expertise in the acquisition of residential and commercial properties as well as numerous easements for public utilities, roadways, and the preservation of environmentally sensitive areas. Prior to joining the firm, Steve worked as a majority caucus researcher with the Minnesota House of Representatives and as committee administrator for the House Health and Human Services Policy Committee. While in law school, Steve clerked in law firms specializing in small business, employment, real estate, and misdemeanor criminal defense issues. Steve graduated summa cum laude from Minnesota State University-Moorhead in 1996 with a B.A. in political science and a minor in writing. He graduated from the University of Minnesota Law School in 1999. Steve is a member of the Minnesota State Bar Association sections for Administrative Law and Environment, Natural Resources & Energy. He is also a member of the Sensible Land Use Coalition and the St. Paul Rotary Club. |
