The annual fall conference of the Coalition of Greater Minnesota Cities (CGMC), which was led by Flaherty & Hood’s legislative team, saw record attendance this year. More than 115 elected officials, city staff members and other city leaders from over 50 Greater Minnesota cities attended the event at Arrowwood Resort & Conference Center in Alexandria, Minn. on Nov. 16-17 to learn about key issues affecting their communities.

The conference featured presentations and panel discussions on topics such as Greater Minnesota’s child care shortage, broadband, and labor and employee relations. It also included a legislative panel discussion in which legislators from both parties talked about takeaways from the 2017 session and their plans for 2018. In addition to informative sessions, conference attendees also enjoyed an entertaining “quiz show” put on by the award-winning Theater of Public Policy.

In preparation for the upcoming legislative session, Flaherty & Hood staff also provided presentations and led discussions on the CGMC’s 2018 legislative policy positions on the topics of annexation and land use, transportation, environment and energy, local government aid and property taxes, and economic development.

Flaherty & Hood thanks all of the CGMC members who joined us in Alexandria!
