Flaherty & Hood is pleased to welcome attorney Peter Gifford as the newest member of its legal team!
As an prosecuting attorney with Flaherty & Hood’s Winona Office, Peter brings his wealth of experience, insight, and presentational knowledge to aggressively pursuing city criminal prosecution on behalf of cities in the southeastern Minnesota area.
After graduating in 2012 from Benedictine College in Atichison, Kan., Peter pursued his law degree with the University of St. Thomas School of Law in Minneapolis, Minn. While in law school, he worked for two years as a student attorney for the Public Defender’s Office of the Second Judicial District of Minnesota.
Upon graduating law school in 2015, Peter worked as an associate attorney with Lies & Bullis, Attorneys at Law of Wahpeton, N.D., assisting in city criminal prosecutions, representing clients on civil general practice matters, and participating in local professional organizations. He moved to southeastern Minnesota in early 2017, working over a year as a law clerk for the Honorable Judge Mary C. Leahy of Winona County, offering advice on opinions, assisting in drafting orders, observing trial conduct, and assisting other court staff.
Peter was admitted to the Minnesota State Bar in October 2015.
