The law firm of Flaherty & Hood, P.A. pleased to welcome Scott McMahon as the newest member of its legislative team.

As a lobbyist for the firm, Scott uses his experience in public policy advocacy, grassroots engagement and coalition development to design and implement strategies to advance our clients’ legislative priorities.

Prior to joining Flaherty & Hood, Scott worked extensively across the state of Minnesota advancing policy ideas and agendas on a variety of key issues. For the past decade he has worked on workforce and economic development issues, first as the director of government and community affairs with the Minnesota Private College Council, then as a consultant forging partnerships between four-year universities, two-year community colleges and communities to better align education programs with workforce needs. Before that, Scott worked as the research director at the National Institute for Health Policy on policies affecting health care and long-term care delivery, access and affordability.

Scott has a masters degree in public policy from the Humphrey School of Public Affairs at the University of Minnesota, and a masters of nonprofit administration from the Mendoza College of Business at the University of Notre Dame. He earned his bachelors degree from Saint John’s University.
