Flaherty & Hood, P.A. is pleased to announce that former state representative and gubernatorial candidate Marty Seifert has joined its legislative advocacy team for the 2015 session.

Seifert brings to the firm many years of valuable public service and non-profit experience, as well as an extensive knowledge of issues that are important to Flaherty & Hood’s clients in Greater Minnesota and throughout the state. A resident of Marshall, Minn., Seifert served in the Minnesota House from 1996 until 2010, and was elected minority leader of the Republican caucus from 2006 to 2009. He previously worked as a high school social studies teacher and an admissions counselor at Southwest Minnesota State University. He currently owns a property management company in Marshall, serves on the Board of Governors for Granite Falls Energy and Heron Lake BioEnergy, and is involved in numerous community organizations.

Most recently, Seifert was a Republican candidate for governor whose campaign took him to communities all across Minnesota, giving him unique insight into the issues affecting our state.

“Venturing into legislative advocacy work seems like a natural transition for me,” Seifert said. “It’s a great opportunity to use my experience as a former legislator and I’m excited to join Flaherty & Hood, a team known for its policy expertise and passion for their clients.”

Tim Flaherty, shareholder and senior lobbyist at Flaherty & Hood, added, “We’re thrilled to have Marty on board with us. With his background as a former lawmaker and lifelong resident of Greater Minnesota, he is a great fit for our firm and certainly will be an asset to our clients.”
