Flaherty & Hood’s association management team recently helped coordinate and staff the Minnesota Association of Government Communicators (MAGC) Annual Conference. We worked closely with the Annual Conference committee to execute the conference, providing comprehensive planning support and on-site services.

This year’s Annual Conference was the largest in MAGC history and sold out weeks in advance. 340 government communicators from throughout Minnesota gathered in Brooklyn Center to hear from speakers, attend breakout sessions, visit with conference sponsors, and network with colleagues. The conference kicked off with an opening keynote from Howie Padilla, Jen Longaecker, and Risikat Adesaogun, who discussed their experiences leading the communications response to the June 14, 2025 shooting of state lawmakers and their families. Breakout sessions covered digital accessibility, embracing the role of government communicators, humanizing government through social media, and building public trust.

20261021 125907590 IosWe heard from the Minnesota State Fair comms team, who offered a quick peek behind the curtain of their work supporting the Great Minnesota Get-Together. New this year, the conference also offered a themed networking session where communicators learned from colleagues and met new friends. To cap off the day, closing keynote speaker Jasmine Brett Stringer shared strategies to help communicators prioritize rest, set boundaries, and reclaim their energy, even when work feels relentless.

It takes months of planning and many people working behind the scenes to execute a conference of this scale, and Flaherty & Hood is proud to be a part of the team supporting MAGC.
