Director of Policy Research & Analytics
As Director of Policy Research & Analytics, Derrick Miedaner serves his role with a primary focus on economic and public policy analysis for local governments and public-private partnerships. Derrick’s experience centers around providing consultation on complex economic policy issues with both local and state-level professional and municipal groups, bringing a trained critical lens that provides strong data driven analysis and expert consulting. Specifically, his skillset focuses on the areas of:
- Economic research, modeling, and forecasting
- Economic policy and implementation analysis
- Economic development consulting
- Program creation and analysis
- Applied geospatial economic analysis
Prior to joining Flaherty & Hood in 2023, Derrick worked as a Senior Investment Advisory Compliance Analyst at Securian Financial Group and Director of Economic Development at Civic Intelligence LLC. Derrick’s extensive background in analytical applications, project-based policy initiatives, special assessment methodology, public engagement modeling, and other policy services make him an essential resource for the firm’s clients and their interests.
In addition to his consultant experience, Derrick is an avid writer, having authored pieces for various publications and platforms. When he is not busy scouring data, Derrick enjoys traveling with his family, having visited 40 countries and previously lived in South Korea.
