Associate Attorney
Kayla Davis is an Associate Attorney at Flaherty & Hood whose practice is focused on litigation matters in Greater Minnesota while also assisting the firm’s municipal law and labor & employment law teams.
Kayla’s approach to her legal work is shaped by her diligence and attention to detail, having participated in several competitions throughout her education. Her accolades include receiving the Best Brief Award in the University of Minnesota Law School’s Civil Rights/Civil Liberties Moot Court program, book awards for her performance in Poverty Law and Advanced Torts as a Robina Public Interest Scholar, and competing as a member of the Federal Bar Association’s Thurgood Marshall Moot Court Competition Team in Washington, D.C.
Before joining Flaherty & Hood, Kayla served as a judicial law clerk for the Honorable Judge Diane B. Bratvold at the Minnesota Court of Appeals, where she analyzed and researched cases on appeal in nearly all areas of state law, including municipal and administrative law. While in law school, Kayla held research roles in the University of Minnesota Law School’s Civil Rights/Civil Liberties Moot Court. She also served as a student attorney for the State of Alaska’s Public Defender Agency and as a legal intern for the District of Alaska’s Office of the Federal Public Defender. After graduating law school, Kayla worked as an adjunct professor for the University of Minnesota Law School, coaching the University’s Labor and Employment Law Moot Court Competition Team.
Coming from a family of bush pilots, Kayla was born and raised in Soldotna—a small fishing town in Southcentral Alaska—and grew up in an airplane hangar. Needless to say, she doesn’t have a fear of heights! In her spare time, Kayla enjoys road trips, rock hounding, and trying new restaurants in the Twin Cities.
