Lobbyist

As a lobbyist for Flaherty & Hood, Lily uses her experience in public policy advocacy and knowledge of the legislative process to develop and implement strategies to advance her clients’ legislative priorities. Lily has an extensive background in health, human services, and housing, as well as valuable experience advancing legislation at the Capitol.

Before joining Flaherty & Hood, Lily served as the Public Policy Manager at Lutheran Social Service of Minnesota, where she led statewide public policy initiatives and grassroots advocacy across a variety of issue areas. Throughout her advocacy experience, Lily worked to build coalitions to strengthen nonpartisan civic engagement, collaborated with stakeholders in to shape and advocate for legislative change, and developed strategic campaigns and facilitated engagement with lawmakers, agency staff, and other key stakeholders. Prior to her time at Lutheran Social Service of Minnesota, Lily served in various high-level management roles for Forward Global Women, Catholic Charities of Twin Cities, and Education Minnesota.

A native of Cincinnati, OH, Lily holds a bachelor’s degree in Political Science with a minor in Arabic from the University of Minnesota – Twin Cities. Lily has spent most of her life in Minnesota, having moved to Shoreview when she was 7 years old. Fresh out of college, Lily spent time in Amman, Jordan, working for the Red Crescent before returning to Minnesota with her husband, Hamza, and settling down with their rescue dog, Minka. Lily is fluent in Arabic and, when she’s not busy running around the Capitol, she loves to cook and bake, especially sourdough bread. Lily can often be found traveling abroad to see family and friends while exploring new places.
