As a consultant lobbyist for Flaherty & Hood, Loren Solberg represents the firm’s clients and advocates for their interests before legislators and legislative staff. He joined the firm in 2015.
As a former State Representative who served 14 terms in the Minnesota House, Loren understands the importance of building a positive relationship with legislators and their staff on both sides of the political aisle. He has first-hand experience with the legislative process and understands how to successfully present clients’ issues.
The legislative process requires patience and perseverance because it is a dynamic and exciting, but sometimes long and frustrating process. As a lobbyist, Loren enjoys how every day brings a new challenge or opportunity to advocate for clients. He also finds it exciting to learn how important the client’s issues are for improving the governmental process and affecting the lives of their constituents.
Prior to starting his own government relations consulting company, Loren Solberg Consulting LLC, Loren worked as a math instructor for Greenway of Coleraine, Minn. schools and at Itasca Community College. In addition to serving in the Minnesota House, his experience as an elected official includes six terms as mayor of Bovey, Minn.
Growing up on a small farm by Blackduck, Minn., Loren learned the importance of honest work. He and his wife Joan have four adult children and 13 grandchildren.
The couple lives on a lake near Grand Rapids, Minn., where they enjoy water activities, snowmobiling, hunting, fishing, and volunteering for their church and community organizations.
