Senior Attorney / Lobbyist
As a senior attorney and lobbyist at Flaherty & Hood, Shane Zahrt uses his knowledge of the legislative process and his background in political organizing to develop and implement successful legislative strategies on behalf of public and private sector clients.
Shane is a recognizable face at the State Capitol in the areas of transportation, taxes, and economic development, with a breadth of experience working with clients who have issues that span multiple legislative committees. Since joining Flaherty & Hood in 2016, Shane has worked on behalf of clients to secure hundreds of millions of dollars in state funding for regional and local projects, including more than $200 million in state and federal dollars for improvements to U.S. Highway 14 in southern Minnesota.
Shane enjoys collaborating with clients to turn their ideas into reality and ensure their voices are heard at the Capitol. He loves coming to work because Flaherty & Hood’s team-based approach to government relations means that our staff build lasting relationships with our clients and achieve real results that have a lasting positive impact.
Prior to joining Flaherty & Hood, Shane worked on political campaigns in both Minnesota and North Dakota. He also served as legislative assistant to the North Dakota Senate Minority Leader, where he oversaw research and strategy on a diverse array of issues.
Shane grew up across the Midwest, with stops in Iowa, Nebraska, and North Dakota before choosing Minnesota as home. When he’s not in a committee room at the State Capitol, Shane enjoys traveling, basketball, and spending time with friends.
