Flaherty & Hood policy analyst Ania McDonnell recently published her masters professional paper titled “Gender Mainstreaming City Comprehensive Plans: a Transportation Focus.”

Since it was first published in 2020, McDonnell’s paper continues to gain recognition through many requests to present to local and national groups on her work. Her paper has been featured in news outlets including MinnPost, Minnesota Daily and the Transportation Research Board. McDonnell’s paper provides an analysis of gender inclusive language in city comprehensive plans, finding that it is important to consider gender-diverse needs in policies and planning to ensure all perspectives are included.

A graduate of the University of Minnesota’s Humphrey School of Public Affairs, McDonnell joined Flaherty & Hood in 2020 and works on tax policy analysis and lobbying for the firm.
