The Greater Minnesota Partnership has chosen to renew its partnership with Flaherty & Hood and selected Flaherty & Hood lobbyist Scott McMahon as their new executive director. He takes the helm from previous executive director Dan Dorman, who announced his intent to step down from the day-to-day leadership of the organization effective the end of 2020.

Flaherty & Hood has represented the GMNP since its inception in 2013. The GMNP is a nonprofit corporation devoted to advocating for state economic development policies and resources that benefit Greater Minnesota. It has more than 60 members consisting of businesses, chambers of commerce, economic development authorities, colleges and universities, cities and nonprofits from throughout Greater Minnesota.

McMahon joined Flaherty & Hood’s legislative team in October 2018 and has worked extensively on representing our clients in issues related to economic development. For the past two years, he has teamed up with Dorman to provide legislative advocacy services to the GMNP. In particular, McMahon has led the GMNP’s efforts on addressing the child care crisis and has helped growth the organization through extensive membership recruitment efforts.

As part of his launch in this new role, McMahon was the guest on this week’s edition of the Center for Rural Policy and Development’s “Center of Everything” podcast, talking about the GMNP, its agenda, and the 2021 legislative session.
