Flaherty & Hood’s legislative team staffed the Coalition of Greater Minnesota Cities’ Fall Conference Nov. 13-14 at the Ramada Plaza in Minneapolis. More than 70 city leaders from throughout Greater Minnesota attended the conference, which featured numerous presentations, speakers and policy discussions.

Pat Kessler, WCCO’s award-winning politics reporter, provided the keynote address during the Thursday evening dinner. In his speech, Kessler shared his insights and observations from more than 30 years of covering the political scene in Minnesota. The conference also a featured a legislative panel discussion on transportation, a presentation by former gubernatorial candidate Tom Horner on a study he conducted titled “Finding the Voice of Rural Minnesota,” and an analysis of the recent election and how its results could affect Greater Minnesota.

In preparation for the upcoming legislative session, Flaherty & Hood staff also provided presentations and led discussions on the CGMC’s 2015 legislative policy positions on the topics of annexation and land use, transportation, environment and energy, local government aid and property taxes, and economic development.
