Flaherty & Hood’s legislative team recently staffed the 2019 Coalition of Greater Minnesota Cities (CGMC) Summer Conference. Nearly 100 elected officials, city staff members and other city leaders from more than 50 Greater Minnesota cities convened in Bemidji on July 24-26 for informative sessions, educational tours and fun community activities.

The conference featured excellent presentations and panel discussions on topics such as workforce development, housing, and labor and employee relations, as well as a lawmaker panel discussion and a presentation by Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development Commissioner Steve Grove. Attendees also learned about the city of Bemidji, which hosted the event, through tours of attractions and amenities such as the Lake Bemidji Waterfront, its downtown art and history scene, and new economic development projects and businesses in the city.

One of the highlights of the conference was Thursday evening’s Legislative Awards Dinner which honored 31 legislators, city leaders and others who helped promote CGMC issues during the past year. In addition, the CGMC honored Flaherty & Hood founder Tim Flaherty, who retired this spring, with the newly renamed “Tim Flaherty Legacy Award” in recognition of his more than three decades of service to the CGMC and Greater Minnesota communities.

Flaherty & Hood thanks all of the CGMC members who joined us in Bemidji.
