Flaherty & Hood recently staffed the 2015 Coalition of Greater Minnesota Cities Summer Conference. Nearly 100 representatives from more than 35 Greater Minnesota cities headed to Duluth July 22-24 for informative sessions, CGMC administrative meetings, and fun community activities.

The conference featured excellent presentations and panel discussions on the topics such as the 2015 legislative session, workforce housing, population changes and trends, environmental regulation and energy efficiency. Attendees also got to learn more about the city of Duluth through a city-hosted dinner and reception at Greysolon and options take part in tours of the AAR aircraft maintenance facility or boat cruise on Lake Superior.

The second day of the conference included luncheon with keynote Speaker Lori Sturdevant, a columnist for the Star Tribune. Later that afternoon legislators Sen. Kent Eken, Sen. Bill Weber, Rep. Paul Thissen and Rep. Deb Kiel and Minnesota Dept. of Revenue Commissioner Cynthia Bauerly took part in a panel discussion that focused mainly on the topics of LGA, property and transportation. Lieutenant Governor Tina Smith also made an appearance on Thursday afternoon, where she briefly spoke to the crowd and then took questions.

One of the highlights of the conference was Thursday evening’s Legislative Awards Dinner which honored 22 legislators, city leaders and others who helped promote CGMC issues during the past year.

Flaherty & Hood thanks all of the CGMC members who joined us in Duluth!
